Medical Professionals Needed in Birmingham

Here is an update from one of our partners, M-Power, in Birmingham who are serving the Pratt City community:

Now four days after the tornados, the gaps in relief work as well as the long-term needs are becoming more apparent.  One of the major needs is providing medications to those who have lost their medicines and can't quickly nor easily replace them. Already, we have heard stories of people desperate to find things like inhalers and insulin. This work is outside the capacity of the Red Cross.

To help address this need, M-POWER is opening a satellite clinic in the Pratt City community starting tomorrow, Monday, May 2.

At this point, we can't accurately measure the level of need. The Pratt City resource center is open from 8 AM to 7 PM seven days a week, so we will try to match those hours as long as the demand is there and we have volunteers.

We are looking for medical professionals and chaplains/pastors/pastoral counselors who are willing to work in 4 hour shifts beginning Monday from 1 PM - 7 PM and Tuesday through Saturday 8 AM until 7 PM.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Ryan Hankins, Executive Director at ryan.hankins@mpowerministries.org and let me know your availability.
