April 28 Tornado Damage Response

Hi Folks:

We are all devastated this morning as we wake up to the scope of his disaster. ALCBF will first be working to check in with our churches to see how we can connect one another to help with the aftermath of this disaster. We are not first responders in these sort of disasters but will be moving forward to enter the process as soon as we can.

It would be helpful if someone from your church would check in with Terri or I to let us know your situation. If your congregation begins a plan to help, it would be good to hear about that as there may be volunteers from other churches that might wish to join you. We will communicate all the information we get on ways to help as the early responses settle, and we learn more.

Our goal will be to try to connect the resources and people of our churches with one another and offer information about where help is needed. VOA and National CBF are already in conversation with us. We will have to wait a bit as first responders assess, and make safe again,  the areas of damage. We will then connect folks who need help and/or want to help.

I don't have to tell you that ALCBF churches cannot do everything needed here, but we can do something, step by step, to help with this. We are striving to communicate and organize ways to do that.

Pray for the people affected and let us hear what you are doing in your churches to help. Also, let us know areas of need where you are that need help.
