fbcw_logo_small-1AlabamaCBF has entered into a new phase in our disaster response ministry. While major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the tornado in Enterprise happen infrequently, we want to be as prepared as possible when disaster does strike, as well as utilize our resources effectively in the interim between major needs.

Currently, we have three disaster response trailers. One is located at First Baptist Church of Williams; one is located at Covenant Community Church in Elba; a third is located with Volunteers of America in Mobile. We have resources for one additional trailer to be placed somewhere around the state. Additionally, we work with many other churches who have their own equipment and have responded through the CBF in the past. All of these players form the “network” of AlabamaCBF Disaster Response.

There are two parts to this next phase of disaster response:

First, the First Baptist Church of Williams has volunteered to be the main church organizer for our disaster response team. They will be a first point of contact, gathering information, contacting other teams and deciding what response our churches will offer. This will primarily be done by e-mail and posting information on our website.

Second, we have a new name for our disaster response efforts: Touching Lives by Sharing the Love of Jesus. This captures the heart of what we’re trying to accomplish: to serve others with the love of Christ, thereby proclaiming the good news.
